Barrow Creek: Having a leak

June 14th, 2008 : barrow-creek-having-a-leak

Sonny and UsWe left the hospitality of Sonny and the house of gems. Before heading north, we went back west to Simpsons Gap, another canyon like gap in the MacDonnell Ranges just out of town. From here we went for a short bike ride along a sealed bike track through the countryside. We didn't get back on the road north until midday, a bit later than we had hoped. At Barrow Creek, we needed to stop as a red light was flashing on the dash. The light was indicating that we needed more radiator coolant due to a leak. We got some fluid to top it up and get us back on the road. We were hoping that we did not break down on this stretch of road - famous for Peter Falconino's disappearance. It was too late to reach Devils Marbles so we stayed at a surprisingly peaceful roadside rest stop just north of Barrow Creek. Luckily there were not too many road trains passing in the night.
