Edith Falls: Jumping Fish

June 22nd, 2008 : edith-falls-jumping-fish

Barra FeedingFirst stop today was to see some barramundi feeding at the Mataranka Manor. The guy tempts the fish with some bait, then catches it by hand and drags it out of the water for all to seeā€¦ He caught one first try, but was taking his time to get another so we headed off. We drove on to Katherine to refill our fridge and have lunch in a park by the Katherine River, then another 70 km drive to Edith Falls.

The whole place reminds us of Wangi Falls at Litchfield Park, which we will be visiting in a few days. We have a great campsite, with our own grassed area for Olive to play in, and a picnic table too.

Below Edith Falls there is a large water hole which we took a dip in. The water was very refreshing and it took a little while to get used to the colder water after spending a couple of days in a thermal spring. There is another smaller rock pool that we will walk to tomorrow.
