American River, Kangaroo Island: Horse Race Day

February 21st, 2009 : american-river-kangaroo-island-horse-race-day

Fashion of the FieldWe are fortunate to be on Kangaroo Island for the social event of the year, the annual KI cup race day. We spent the morning preparing for the big day. We knew we were at a country race meet when we drove up along the dirt and parked along the fence to the track. We could have easily stayed in the van all day to watch the races; however, we had some tips from Richo that had to be placed. Unfortunately we missed the first race, only by a few minutes. Richo’s tips were a winner for us ignorant race goers. In the end he tipped four out of five winners (one scratched), so of course we had a good day too. Rob’s cousin Lisa judged the fashion of the field and plugged her new business while at it. Olive made friends and ate all their food, as usual. Another highlight was the crayfish picking competition. We were quite tired after the big day, so jumped at the opportunity to watch a dvd in the evening, and from Lisa’s large collection we chose to watch Borat.
