Mt Remarkable National Park: Heading West

February 23rd, 2009 : mt-remarkable-national-park-heading-west

Richie and FamilyWe had a sleep in after the difficult night last night getting Olive to sleep. In the morning we returned to Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens with our friends. It had been closed last time we attempted to visit due to the high fire risk. After a pleasant stroll through the gardens, getting wet in the fern gully, we said goodbye (again) to our friends and headed out of Adelaide at about midday. We had a long drive planned, trying to get as far as we could go, towards the Eyre Peninsula. We made it to a campsite at Mt Remarkable National Park in the southern Flinders Ranges. It has a great bush setting surrounded by huge beautiful Red River Gums. This is a rare National Park campsite with showers, so we may stay here longer, though some of the park’s walks are closed due to the high fire risk.
