Bilambil Heights: Indy Race Day

October 24th, 2008 : bilambil-heights-indy-race-day

Meter MaidsAfter dropping Pam and John (Ganny and Grandpa) to the airport we went back to the hotel to pack up and check out. We finally got a call from Rob’s cousin Lisa confirming that she had tickets for us to go to the Indy 300 cars for the day. So we quickly got ourselves to her place to collect the tickets and reached the zooming race track by about 11am. Boy was it loud!! We entered the track at the back straight where the Indy cars were flooring it after the corner, so the noise was amazingly loud. The earplugs we scored were no good as Olive kept wanting to play with them. What an interesting day, typically blokish; chicks in bikinis spraying people with sunscreen; dancing divas; Gold Coast meter maids; burnout sessions; low-flying ear-drum bursting fighter jets; drinking and loads of car crashes! We were ‘stoked’ to be able to see what it is all about. We were exhausted after several hours walking around the track. It was too late to continue our trip any further down the coast, so we returned to cousin Cath’s house a great night of catching up and reminiscing.
