Townsville: We Shall Return

Day three of our fitness program, we headed to Magnetic Island with our pushbikes. It was a frantic rush to make the ferry on time, as we encountered a car accident and traffic jam on the way into town. Thank goodness for our best friend and navigator Garmy - the GPS unit, which successfully directed us around the congestion. The traffic on the island was much calmer. After the first big hill to ride up we started to have regrets about bringing our bikes. We definitely were not having fun as we pushed our bikes up the very long and steep second hill. Fortunately the free ride down the other side was long, and the destination worth it. We had lunch at Horseshoe Bay, then hiked about 45 minutes to the more secluded Balding Bay. We thought that this isolated bay would be great for a swim, however some nudists also had the same idea. The ride back to the ferry seemed easier, but it was a long and exhausting day. But as anyone else who has been to Magnetic Island can attest, there is an irresistible force drawing you back, so we will return.
