Olive said goodbye to her friend Ashlee who was moving on to Streaky Bay with her parents, it was sad as she had bonded with her very quickly. Everyone around us was heading out for a day of fishing, a very popular pastime around here, though we don’t get into that. We packed up for a morning of cycling exploration. Just north of Elliston is the Great Ocean Drive, a spectacular dirt road that winds along the clifftops. We rode along the eastern part to a lookout with spectacular views along the high rugged cliff. This drive is much different to Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, being more rugged along dirt roads, and much shorter. On the way back we stopped to explore Little Bay to search for shells. Then a short distance further we stopped and walked out to a point for views into Waterloo Bay. Apparently there are some fossilised weevils to be seen here, but we could not find any (it probably helps if we knew what we were looking for). We also saw a seal splashing around. We returned to our grassy campsite for lunch, after which Clare took Olive for a jaunt to the park. Later in the day, Rob took Olive for another quick ride to make use of the bikes while they are off the rack.
