We decided to take another bike ride today along the very picturesque coastal path. Our map indicated it was just 7km to Goolwa, so we planned a morning ride there and back. After 12 km, we were still not there, and starting to get frustrated as it was mostly into the wind with a slight incline. We’ll have to complain to the map makers. Taking a walk up and down the main street and dining at one of the many café’s illustrated the lovely charm of Goolwa. Riding back was certainly more enjoyable, a little tail wind, more down hill plus a little short cut did help. Not planning such a long time out meant Olive fell asleep on the back of the bike, which always makes us feel uncomfortable as she constantly knocks her head. So at Middleton, we stopped for coffee in the hope she might continue sleeping in our arms – oh but not our Olive! As we approached the caravan park we realized we had left our backpack at the café, so Rob raced back to retrieve it. Fortunately it was still there where we had left it. It was a tiring 35km ride all up, but highly enjoyable with spectacular views of the coast most of the way. For dinner we cooked up some German weisswurst sausages that we bought in Hanhdorf. They were not quite right cooked on a Aussie BBQ, the authentic ones we had back in Munich were much better.
