Singapore 2014

Day 1: Saturday, 10th May

We are off for 11 days in Singapore. It was a busy morning getting our visa documents signed and cooked breakfast before we had to rush off to the airport. Our driver Putu thought we might be late, we had never seen him drive so fast! However we got there in plenty of time.

As usual it was a challenge keeping the kids occupied and in order. Why do our kids always seem like the rowdy ones. Thankfully it was just a few hours flight. On arrival the accommodation was not what we had expected... it was a hostel with a family room, but there were a few things that were a little disconcerting. There was no rooftop bar which was a selling point, since it is diffcult for us to go out with the kids. Our room is like a dodgey dorm room with 3 bunk beds, no table at all, or chairs, no soap and 2 towels to share between us. Lucky we will be out exploring Singapore most of the time.

the only stand with a line

For dinner we were directed to a food centre a short walk away that had an amazing array of Chinese food. We are staying in Little India, but once you cross the main road we were well into Chinese influenced territory.

Little India is such a little pocket of Singapore jam-packed with all things Indian. Casper fell asleep on the way for dinner but woke to eat some yummy food. Rob found the only stall with a line, so it must be good - fried carrot cake! (a favourite from Malaysia). After putting the kids to bed, Rob walked around the neighborhood to find some supplies like breakfast, fruit, soap and milk.
