Darwin: Extra Care

July 7th, 2008 : darwin-extra-care

Alvin being towed awayThis morning our Van would not start. After a call to AANT (Darwin's version of the RAC/V) it  was diagnosed as a coil problem, requiring towing to our favourite VW repairers. Fortunately we signed up for the RACV Extra Care service before we left, and with the car out of action we are provided with car hire and accomodation for up to a week. Let's hope it doesn't take that long. We are also lucky we have friends in Darwin who have been looking after us so well. We tried to forget our troubles, borrowed a car and went to one of our favourite Darwin eateries, Cornucopia, for lunch. This cafe is attached to the Museum, and we couldn't come here without a quick view of Sweetheart (the croc). Olive also loved the display of stuffed birds. From here we picked up our hire car, Clare revisited a physio for her neck pain, and Rob returned to Chris and Cate's for a swim in their spa. Our motel unit is unfortunately quite a way out of town (everywhere's booked up due to the V8 Supercar race on the weekend) but it is nice to have our own place.
