Darwin: Hot and Dry

June 28th, 2008 : darwin-hot-and-dry

Florence Falls at LitchfieldWe hiked 2.5 km to the spectacular Florence Falls from the Buley Rockholes, where we beat the crowds again and took a swim in the large pool under the twin falls. We took the rest of the morning to drive the 100 or so kilometres up to Darwin, with a short stop at Noonamah for lunch. We arrived in the early afternoon at our friends Chris and Cate's place, and then sat back to relax in a house again. Chris and Cate have two boys, Archie who is just a little older than Olive, and Clancy who is three. The boys have lots of toys and they all play well together. Olive is in kiddy heaven. It has been getting progressively hotter as we have travelled north, and as we are probably somewhat still acclimatised to Melbourne weather, the cooler dry season here feels pretty hot for us.
