Douglas Hot Springs is a 40 km diversion off the Stuart Highway, including 7 km of pretty good dirt road. We have visited other hot springs recently, but this is a special treat for Olive who does not get a bath often enough. The campground is set in lovely bushland, and we settled on a spot at the stairs leading down to the river. We found our own little spot down from the spring, not too hot and not too cold, and lazed there for much of the afternoon. The water here is much hotter than at Mataranka, the last hot springs we visited. In the evening, after Olive went to sleep, we headed back to the river and sat in the hot water, drinking a glass of wine (thanks Anna) and watched the stars.
