Avoiding the extremely light spattering of sprinkled rain, Rob took Olive for a peaceful walk along the dry sandy riverbed. The beauty of camping out here is that you can go for an early morning walk and experience the tranquility all on your own. Later, we all went on the 'Panoramic Walk', a one hour hike up along the ridge of the gorge, with spectacular views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Overall the hike would have to be rated very high compared to others we have done around the world. There is an amazing variation in landscape around this area, with different foliage from the river bed, where there are white and green gum trees, to the surrounding hills with only bushy scrub. There are many gum trees in the 'apparently' dry river bed, because of the water table below, and the ability if the trees to tap deeply into this supply. After yesterday's rain the colours of the rocks really stand out.
