Flinders Ranges: hike to the Pound

May 25th, 2008 : flinders-ranges-hike-to-the-pound

Rob and Olive on the rimOn this sensational sunny day we hiked to the top of the mountain ridge to see the spectacular view on offer into the basin of the Wilpena Pound from the top of Mt Ohlsen Bagge. The pound is a large ring of mountains  encasing a flat area, looking almost like a volcano top. We shared the carriage of Olive in the baby carrier, which was very difficult at times as the path was quite steep. Olive missed much of the walk as she slept most of the four hour hike. We stopped for lunch at the peak. A very tiring day, it seemed much warmer than the 20 degrees.
