Day 2: Sunday 11th May

Breakfast was not supplied as we expected, so the hotel gave us a refund of $2 each per day. That will help find our breakfast purchase each day. We bought yogurt and bananas from a local mini market. There are no mugs in the hostel kitchen, so Clare had to resort to drinking tea from a yogurt cup.

Went next door for paratha, but it was not open. After wandering around for a while we came to the Tekka Centre, with a hawker area at the bottom level with mostly Indian fare.

As always, so much to choose from. We had egg paratha. Which olive loved.

We also discovered a drink that seems to be available everywhere, dinosaur Milo drink.

Also had a wonderful sweet and authentic chai.

Great lunch at Christine and Andy's, gluten free but you wouldn't know it, burgers, salmon, salad.

It was mother's day, so we decided to go out for a special dinner. We got the taxi driver to drop us off at jungle tandoori, a quirky and rather tacky animal themed Indian place in Little India.

Butter chicken was our choice for the kids.

It was a bit too spicy for the kids, so it the friendly owner took it back to the kitchen, and re-did the dish in a yoghurt sauce, which was much more agreeable. Olive liked the original (albeit a bit spicy), and we are very proud that she is becoming much more broad in her pickings.

Fish curry for rob and Clare, just the right spiciness. Masala spices with mint. Cheese naan bread was also a winner.
