Clare strolled Olive around the main area of Evans Head, and bought new thongs as she has worn out her previous ones. We have been living in summer weather for nearly six months now and don’t wear much else other than thongs every day. In the afternoon we all cycled the 6 or so km’s out to Chinaman’s Beach, so called as many Chinese were once there sifting the sand for gold. As the sun set, thousands of bats departed there hiding places amongst the surrounding trees, swirling overhead. This was quite apt as it is Halloween.
