We left early as we were getting eaten alive by midgies at the caravan park. We were too early for the Bundy factory tour, so we headed to one of the local beaches, Innes Park, where we stopped for a coffee. We made it back for the 10am tour, which was very interesting and rather tasty at the end! On Katrina’s recommendation, we ventured a only little further down the coast to Woodgate, a small seaside town with an extra long white sandy beach. It had a very unhurried feel to it, so we spent the day hanging about. From here we went inland to Childers, well known for the backpackers fire of 2000. It was a nice old country town, with a few old pubs and buildings. A lot of fruit pickers congregate around here. We stayed overnight at a free roadside stop right next to a park and playground (or ‘ay ow’ as Olive describes it!) just north of town.
