Bowen: Beaches and Bays

September 19th, 2008 : bowen-beaches-and-bays

Olive at SunsetWe are staying here another day because it is so beautiful. The van parking sites are at the base of a hill and nestled in the midst of huge boulders. There are a few howling peacocks that also roam around the campground. We followed them around for a while waiting to take a photo of them opening up their tails. Clare went for an early morning snorkel, and then took Olive for a bike ride along Queens Beach. After lunch we all went for a swim and Rob went snorkeling. Later in the afternoon we hiked up to a lookout and around to the next bay, passing a shell beach and another gorgeous view of the coastline. Happy hour drinks were by the sea as the sun set, while Olive hunted for shells and coral. We watched the boats coming in from fishing trips in preparation for the weekend’s fishing competition, and there are plenty of fish fanatics turning up!
