Airlie Beach: Lagoona

We stopped for the obligatory photo at the Big Mango just south of Bowen. We timed our visit to Airlie Beach to go to the morning beachside markets, which were not too bad, but not as good as Port Douglas markets. A friend (of Steve’s) from Darwin is living in Airlie Beach and Rob was considering giving him a call, but did not need to as we bumped into him on the main street. We organized to catch up later for a drink and meal. We spent the afternoon around the wonderful swimming lagoon on the foreshore. It is a large free pool surrounded by grassy lawns, where all the locals and backpackers hang out. We went out for an Indian meal with Mick, Anne-Marie and their one year old son Lachlie.
