Ellis Beach: Just a Beach

August 16th, 2008 : ellis-beach-just-a-beach

Olive PeggedWe packed up our van and took a very short drive north of Cairns to Ellis Beach this morning, which we had heard was a lovely place to stay on the beach. It is only a few kms up the road, around the headland of the Palm Cove beach. It is a nicer sandy beach with palm trees all along, and is also much quieter.

Other than the caravan park there is nothing much else here. It has none of the shops or luxury apartments that Palm Cove offered, which suits us fine.

It was a spectacular day today, not as windy as it has been in previous days, so the beach was gorgeous. Olive, however, was not that keen to go in the water, but just loved to collect some more shells and knock down sand castles!
