Eungella: Sky Window

September 23rd, 2008 : eungella-sky-window

BBQ with a viewFrom Cape Hillsborough on the coast we drove up a very steep climb to Eungella, a sleepy town in the hills about one hour away. We were originally disappointed we couldn’t stay at the National Park as it was ‘walk in’ camping only, however we discovered that the caravan park was actually a better option – perched on top of the mountain. From our van we are looking straight out over the valley – such a magical view. This is easily the best location we have camped at. We went for a two hour walk along the creek in the Eungella National Park, and hung around on the viewing platform waiting to see a platypus. We were not as patient as usual, and we had to get Olive back and prepare dinner. We had seen a platypus in Tassie before so we were happy to leave. Back at our mountain camp the mist was rising up through the valley, and the temperature dropping with it.
