Naracoorte Caves National Park: Leaving Nothing to Waste

January 17th, 2009 : naracoorte-caves-national-park-leaving-nothing-to-waste

Long SlideThis morning we drove through the last of the Grampians must sees – Zumsteins Picnic area, as well as Ngamadjidj Shelter Aboriginal Rock Art site. Seeing this rock art made us realise how spoilt we have been on this trip, as compared to Ubir at Kakadu, it does not match up. Continuing on our journey, we stopped for coffee at Edenhope, playing on the big slide and dining next to the Big Fish, before crossing the border into South Australia. We forgot about the Fruit Fly Exclusion Zone, meaning no fresh vegetables and fruit can cross into SA. We stopped at the dump point and ate all we could and cooked up a few veggies for tonight’s dinner, and only had to dispose of a few items. We had to restock on a few items at the next major town across the border, Naracoorte. South of here are the World Heritage Listed Naracoorte Caves. We went to the caves office to get information about tours for tomorrow, then camped at their very good facilities just down the road. We bought a SA National Park holiday pass which gives us entry and camping at most of the SA parks for the next two months – a great deal. We will get our moneys worth the next two nights just staying here!
