We made a quick getaway, there’s nothing to do in Swifts Creek. We continued on our way to the coast, again in the rain. A small detour took us to Lakes Entrance, where we drove around the town and stopped at a lookout, but the inclement weather meant we did not stay long. Next was Bairnsdale, where we had a look at the glorious paintings in St Mary’s Catholic Church. It was too cold for our usual picnic in the park, so we treated ourselves at a café. We continued driving to the beach, and stopped at a beachside free camp (though with no facilities) just along from Seaspray. This was part of the 90 mile beach (actually 94.5 miles) touted as the longest in the world. Olive was more interested in the great array of shells to add to her collection. We are feeling excited about our impeding Melbourne destination, and Olive is getting excited about the impending Christmas. We have taught her to recognise Christmas trees by the ‘twinkle twinkle little star’ on top.
