Yangie Bay Campground, Coffin Bay National Park: More Emu Visits

March 5th, 2009 : yangie-bay-campground-coffin-bay-national-park-more-emu-visits

Teenage EmuFrom Coffin Bay town we drove 15km into the adjacent National Park, to the only spot in the park accessible to regular vehicles. You need a 4WD to access most of the trails into the park. Despite the showery weather, it looked like a nice spot, so we decided to stay at the sheltered campground. We went for a 2 km walk to a lookout over the interesting and complex bay system, which then looped back through scrubland and along the bay’s edge. We got a little wet with drizzle but it was enjoyable all the same. We enjoyed this quiet spot, reading and playing all afternoon. We had a treat for dinner; Clare cooked up the delicious tuna steaks we had bought in Port Lincoln. We then had a visit from an emu and her 6 teenage kids, before an early night as we usually do in these campsites.
