We drove about half an hour up the Hawkesbury River to a small historic town, St Albans. There is not much to the town, if you can call it that, but the main attraction, a lovely old pub, makes it worthwhile. It was a pity it was only 9am - we enjoyed a coffee instead of a beer, and vowed to come back here one day for a Sunday session. We retraced our steps to Wisemans Ferry, onto another car ferry ride, then the long windy road to Sydney. Our trusty Garmin GPS unit got us there OK, avoiding the tolls but occasionally it was not descriptive enough about where it wanted us to go! We don’t miss big city traffic. We arrived in Fairlight (next to Manly) at the house of Clare’s Uncle Jim and Auntie Ellen. We joined them for their regular afternoon beer at the 16 ft Skiff Club by the bay at Manly.
