Wisemans Ferry: Crossing Over

November 22nd, 2008 : wisemans-ferry-crossing-over

Camping at SunsetWe looked for the supposed Ettalong markets, but all we could find was a single lady selling a few paintings – very disappointing. We headed into the uninspiring town of Gosford to see if they had any Saturday markets. We instead headed out to historic Wisemans Ferry on Peter’s recommendation. It was a little out of the way, but that is what made it appealing. It was a long but scenic drive along the Hawksbury River, to finally cross the river on another car ferry, the third for this trip. It is a very small quaint township with a very historic old cemetery, containing the remains of Mr Higgs, who came out here with James Cook and then again on the first fleet. The caravan park was across the river, which requires another car ferry crossing. It turned out a very windy afternoon, with heaps of great activities and kids for Olive to play.
