We woke to a clear morning and we could finally appreciate the beautiful spot that we are at. After a stroll along the edge of Lake St Clair, we drove back through Singleton, and went to see their large sundial. A sign pointed to the ‘World’s Biggest Sundial’, but we have seen a much bigger one ourselves in Jaipur India which has been around a lot longer. Another reference to it said that it was the largest in the southern hemisphere, which is more like it, but it was not that big anyhow. We returned to the Hunter Valley to sample a couple more wines in the Lovedale region, before continuing along the New England Highway to Newcastle. After initially struggling to find a nice place to stop for lunch, we continued across the river to the suburb of Stocktown, where the only caravan park in Newcastle is located. Rob and Olive went along the beach to the northern breakwall, where they saw a huge container ship from a close distance, pass through into the port.
