Emu Park: Yep Yep Yeppoon

September 26th, 2008 : emu-park-yep-yep-yeppoon

Emu Park BeachWe drove from our free camp spot at Camilla Beach a couple of hours south to Rockhampton.  This feels like the longest driving we have done for a while – we forgot how tiring this can be. It’s good for Olive though as she sleeps most of the times when we’re driving. We drove though ‘Rocky’ and headed to the ‘Capricorn Coast’ and the town of Emu Park. We first had to check it out for suitability for watching the AFL Grand Final on Saturday. We had lunch at the park, and then cruised along a scenic drive up the coast to Yeppoon, the largest coastal town. It did not impress us much, except for a nice esplanade. We only stayed long enough for Olive to have a play in the park. We managed to score the last campsite back at Emu Park, next to the camp kitchen and under trees filled with bats. The caravan park provided the entertainment for the night - watching The Storm win their semi in the NRL game shown on a big screen. Oops, we just realised we left the picnic blanket up the mountain at Eungella, too far to back.
