Henrietta Creek: Waterfalls, waterfalls and more waterfalls

September 5th, 2008 : henrietta-creek-waterfalls-waterfalls-and-more-waterfalls

Millaa Millaa WaterfallWe drove out to the Hypipamee Crater and Dinner Falls which is not just a huge hole in the ground, then back to Millaa Milla. After getting some supplies from this dying town (many of the shops were closed and for sale), we drove out along a scenic road to see some waterfalls. It was a slow windy road through very beautiful scenery, but it was taking too long and we decided to turn back before our destination. Just outside Millaa Millaa there is a Waterfall Circuit. There are three waterfalls close together – the Millaa Millaa, Zillie and Ellimijca Falls. Further out from here were the Mungalli Falls, and the Mungalli Creek Dairy. Despite being cynical about their bio-dynamic farming methods, they did make one of the most delicious baked ricotta cheesecakes ever (according to Clare) – ‘The Sicilian’ with dark chocolate and glazed orange - Mmm. We finished the day at Henrietta Creek campground, part of the Wooroonooran National Park. After a hot day’s driving we took a swim in the creek to wash and get refreshed – since there are no showers here!
