Day 7: More Exploring of Hobart

We have another day to explore Hobart. It is a relief to not have to get up and pack our bags as we have done most days. It is quite cold today, the wind blowing in from the icy Southern Ocean. More snow had dropped overnight, quite unusual for this time of year, but not that surprising to those who know of Tasmania's weather.

It was only a short walk to Hobart's famous Salamanca Markets. The weekly markets were buzzing with tourists and locals for food and souvenirs - especially wood products of which we purchased some coasters. Clare was so cold she had to buy another jacket.

We took ourselves on a walking tour of the old suburb on the hill behind the markets, Battery Point. It had some old houses from the days Hobart was a new port town. Our tour circled around back to the wharf area, were we purchased some fresh fish to take back to the hostel and cook up for dinner.
