This list is our own personal top ten favourite caravan parks of Australia we have come across in our travels around Australia, mostly from our 2008 around Australia trip.
Who could beat waking up to this view every morning. If you are lucky or book well ahead you can get the prime position looking straight down the valley. The nearby National Park has great viewing of platypus if you are the patient type.
Paronella Park, QLD
You can get a free night accommodation with every entry to Paronella Park. It is worth it just for the fantastic private picnic spot amongst the ruins.
Banka Banka Station, NT
Along the Stuart Highway heading up the centre of Australia there is not much to see, so when you come across this working cattle station with green grass to park your van, enjoy.
Streaky Bay, SA
It is a long way to get to the Eyre Peninsula and Streaky Bay from Adelaide, but when you get there you may want to stay forever. The caravan park is perfectly located on the beach, and the unpowered site are the best..
Mt Beauty, VIC
As the name suggests, there are some beautiful spots to set up camp around the town of Mt Beauty in Victoria.
South West Rocks, NSW
Camp at the beach in the shadows of the ruins. We were lucky to wake early and see some whales pass meters by the shore.
Kangaroo Iland, SA
West End Caravan Park has wildlife galore. Even when the National Park camping spots become available again, this may still be the best camping option at the west end of the island.
Little Horseshoe Bay is a hidden gem along the Queensland coast – easily the best place to stay if you are in Bowen
Port MacQuarie, NSW
The beachside caravan park at Port MacQuarie is only a stones throw fm the town, and has a great walkway passing right along side. It is big and has something for everyone.
The Cairns Coconut Resort is one of those caravan parks with every conceivable extra, so if you can afford the premium price you can relax here for your holiday.
