Olive and Jetson Christmas 2009

Hi and apologies to all those expecting a fancy animated Christmas image like last year, unfortunately we have been too busy with the new addition to our family who has been quite demanding (though not surprising for a seven week old!). In fact the whole year has been a very busy one for us.

We completed our trip travelling around Australia in April, finishing back in Clare’s hometown of Perth, after travelling through most of SA, and the southwest of WA. After a stay at Clare’s mum’s and a stint house-sitting in the sticks, we finally found a rental in Mount Hawthorn, just north of the city. We love it here and have settled into our quaint little old house. It is nice to have a yard and a place to call home again.

After a very healthy and uneventful pregnancy, Jetson was born on Melbourne Cup day, and presented with a few medical issues. That was only seven weeks ago, but it feels like much longer. It is hard enough going from one child to two, re-learning what having a newborn is like, but we also have to deal with his ongoing medical problems, with the regular doctor visits. When he smiles at us, which he is just starting to do, you realise how precious he is, and that he is not a burden at all. Olive loves him dearly, she has been a fabulous big sister.

When Jetson came along, we realised all of a sudden how much Olive has grown. She is doing really well with her speech, understanding and social skills, and loves to joke around (her dad’s sense of humour!). She has just started one day a week at Day Care, which she has embraced with no problems at all. Clare is also enjoying the extra time she has gained.

Rob is continuing his website work from home, while Clare is busy being mostly a full time mum. She has been squeezing in a tiny bit of work writing for the West Australian, with a cluster of articles in the health section in October!

To all of those we have not kept in better contact with as we should have this year (which is many), we hope you have had a great yea. Best wishes to everyone for the year of 2010.
