After a hectic though a very enjoyable couple of days in San Francisco, we can finally relax and settle in. We have nine nights here in sunny Seaside, just outside of Monterey in California. We have not pre-planned many touristy things to do, as our main aim is to spend time with Rob’s sister Allison, her husband Reggie, and baby Romeo.

Our homey home is a fabulous house, 3 bedrooms with a living and dining area, plus kitchen all still in its original state – the grandies house! It was kinda welcoming, but not very child friendly with lots of breakable ornaments around, however, there was a lot of kids games and activities to keep them occupied. The house is fully decked out with Halloween decorations – giant blow-up pumpkins, headless horses, witches, eyeball lights, spiders, gargoyles, black cats. An amazing display!

First up for the day, Clare and the boys went with Alli and Romeo to Music Class in Carmel, while Rob took Olive and Reggie to the local library. Of Olive’s 8 books she got out, she finished most of them by the end of the day. On the way home we did a quick grocery shop to stock the house with supplies, given it has a full kitchen which we hope to make use of.

We collected the eggs from the eight chickens in the backyard, while checking out the pheasants and rabbit.

Casper’s finger has become infected from a previous injury (jammed in the door back in Bali) so Clare took him to the doctor. A rather expensive affair with the minimal outcome, but hopefully claimable on insurance.

We scoffed some simple easy bacon and eggs for dinner. The one thing we have noticed so far is that everything is so big! We remember this from the last time we came to the US, but it is still surprising how big, especially in the supermarket, which was a treat with ready-made meals, a Starbucks cafe inside, and a massive range of giant-sized everything!
