This list is our own personal top-ten favourite bike rides based on what we have seen and experienced in our travels, mostly from our trip around the world in 2005. (updated in 2020)
1. Dijon, France
Exploring the vineyards around Dijon, France
2. Isla Mujeres, Mexico
Riding bikes from end to end of Isla Mujeres, Mexico
3. Hoi An, Vietnam
Riding around the countryside surrounding Hoi An – from our trip to Vietnam in 2001
4. Lake Monger, Perth, Australia
A ride close to home. Beautiful Lake Monger in Perth is just a short ride from our house in Mount Hawthorn.
5. San Diego, USA
Exploring San Diego on a bike
6. Peuto Vejho to Cahuita, Costa Rica
a bumpy ride on rickety bikes from Puerto Viejo to Cahuita, Costa Rica
7. Angkor Wat, Cambodia
A day exploring the ruins of Angkor Wat by bike, Cambodia
8. Haarlem, The Netherlands
In the cycling country of The Netherlands, a great way to get from the town of Haarlem to the beach was to join the hundreds of locals on the weekend and cycle there along great cycle tracks.
9. Ubud Bali
Downhill cycling from the mountains, rolling through paddy fields and through quiet villages, to the centre of Bali is the best way to see the Balinese countryside
10. Yangshuo, China
A brilliant ride from the town of Yangshuo, China took us to a point on the river, where we put the bikes on a raft and drifted back to where we had started. Thankfully the hotel we stayed at had a tandem bike with a baby seat so we could all get there.
* missing out on the top 10 are: tunnel Perth, Clare Valley South Australia, Mclaren Vale South Australia, Mission Beach Queensland, Monterey California, Lord Howe Island, Bright, Pai Thailand, Vancouver
